A Ward Cedar Log Home is created just for your- a log home shaped by your individual tastes, preferences, building site and, of course, your budget. Start with a log home plan from any of our three design series, and use it as a springboard for your ideas. Make any modifications you wish. You can even combine features from one home plan with another. Our three series include:
PREMIER SERIES: From the tarditional Lexington log cabin style with a full-length porch to the spectacular Sedona with its exposed round purlin roof system and walls of glass, our popular Premier Series offers the greatest design variety, with many home styles and floor plans to choose from. In addition, all premier log homes feature the best quality components in the most complete building package we offer.
CEDAR VALLEY SERIES: When you're looking for a more cost-efficient log home, choose the Cedar Valley Series. These gracious log homes are designed with generous living space, style and affordability in mind. And because they are from Ward, you can be assured that high quality logs and brand-name components will be part of your Cedar Valley log home package.
CAMP SERIES: For the adventurer in all of us, Ward offers the delightful Camp Series. With several models to choose from, you'll find the perfect plan for your lakeside retreat, ski lodge, cottage by the sea or cabin in the woods. Because we use shorter Northern White Cedar logs in our log home camps, this series is our most affordable option, bringing the cost of a vacation home into easy reach. And with its extensive use of cedar throughout, you'll have the benefits of a beautiful second home that's easy to care for as well as low maintenance.
Or go completely custom- the choice is yours! Bring us photos of log home styles you love or a rough floor plan sketched on paper. What was once just a dream- just a glimmer of possibilities- will be brought to life with our design experts guiding the process. Rest assured, whatever type of log home you envision, we will take your initial ideas through to final finished drawings at no extra cost. Our design team uses advanced computer-aided design software to expedite this process and make it easy for you to visualize your new cedar log home.

In fact, with so many features and design options, there's an almost unlimited combination of exterior and interior looks you can achieve. No matter which features you choose, you'll feel confident knowing that every Ward home has been designed and engineered over the years to achieve lasting beauty and srength.
LOG PROFILES OR SIDING: Ward was the first log home company to offer the classic "D"-shaped log, giving our customers the perfect blend of the traditional log home look on the exterior, with a smooth, more finished look inside. Logs are available in both 6" and 8" profiles. Or, you can choose a milled exterior clapboard style log if you prefer a more conventional exterior look.
LOG CORNERS OR CORNER BOARDS: Choose our traditional interlocking corners for a log home look that's reminiscent of yesteryears. Or square off the corners and finish them with cedar trim for a more modern look.
ROOF SYSTEMS: The roof is the crowning jewel of every log home we build, adding elegance, strength and complete protection from the elements. We offer three roof systems to choose from: our uniquely designed exposed round purlin roof, traditional rafter construction or a manufactured truss system. Following is a look at what each one has to offer:
Purlin Roof System: Ward was the first to use the pre-cut round purlin roof system in our log homes, which gives structures tremendous strength while creating soaring cathedral ceilings, plenty of space for lofts and open, free-flowing floor plans- the trademark of a Ward Cedar Log Home. Our spruce purlins are also pre-notched in our factory so that they may pass right through the solid log gable walls. Purlins may be round or square, depending upon your preference.
Rafter Roof System: You also have the option of selecting a conventional rafter system, designed with standard dimensional lumber. Should you want to make a stronger architectural statement, specify our larger rafter option to create vaulted ceilings in which the rafters are exposed.
Truss Roof System: If cost savings are important in your log home planning, Ward offers a manufactured truss roof system that allows you to combine both flat and vaulted ceilings. An attic truss system is also available should you need additional second floor living space at an economical price.
DORMERS: Don't let sloped ceilings stop you from having the room you need in your log home. Add dormers to increase the height of the outside wall and create more second floor living space. Choose either shed or gable roof dormers to provide the exterior style you prefer.
PORCHES, DECKS AND GARAGES: When the days are long and the weather warm, you'll want to spend more time outside, entertaining friends, relaxing with family or simply enjoying a lovely view on a quiet Saturday afternoon. With Ward, you can easily extend your living space out of doors by adding a screened-in porch, wraparound deck or gracious veranda. Or add an attached or detached garage- even a barn- matching your log homes exterior appearance.
CURB APPEAL: When it comes to the outside look of a Ward Cedar Log Home, there is a world of possibilities that guarantee eye-catching curb appeal. Leave logs natural and they'll acquire a silvery patina, or apply a finish to achieve a specific color tone.
BEAUTY ON THE INSIDE: Tongue-and-groove paneling, available in either pine or cedar, comes standard for interior walls, or you can finish the interior with drywall. Some of the most beautiful Ward Cedar Log Homes use a variety of interior finishes to achieve an attractive and balanced combination of color and texture.
